I am considering getting masters in Public Health. I was wondering if this is a field in demand?

Im going into a undergraduate Physician Assistant program and I was also thinking about getting a MPH. PAs, nurses and MDs make moree money than a MPH person because they need to know a lot of information and are highly compensated. Personally I think you should first get into the Health Care by getting a more fulfilling job such as being a PA or a nurse. You get a lot of money and still help people, the best two reasons for doing anything! A person with a MPH will not get much money without first being in the health field and proving yourself worthy to take on higher responsibilities, such as medical director or in charge of a hospital. Get a more useful degree such as PA, nursing, or one of the sciences and then get the MPH. Don't get it alone you'll be struggling with getting jobs and money! Good luck!

Masters in Public Health in Australia or Sweden
Masters in Public Health in Australia or Sweden?
I have the opportunity to pursue a masters of public health in Australia or Sweden. Does anyone have any advice as to which country would be a better place to pursue this? If you think I should go to a particular country, could you please also add why? this will help me out a lot!

You definitly should go to Sweden if the language isn't a problem for you.

What are the best undergraduate majors to get into if you want to pursue a Masters in Public Health (MPH)?
I know that each school varies with the majors offered, but does anyone know of general (and maybe school specific undergraduate) programs that best prepare you for this type of graduate school?

(1) I intend to stay in the healthcare finance industry. Which graduate degree will be more beneficial for my career development (and possibly higher income) -- getting a master's (in public health) or MBA? (2) For my undergrad degree, I graduated from a top national college. There are more nationally reputable online master's programs than online MBA programs. Is it better to have the "name" than the type of graduate degree (MBA vs MPH)?

The MBA gives you the biggest bang for the buck. In other words, you get the most money back for every dollar you spend on a MBA. So, a MBA is more valuable that a regular Master's degree. If you're going to get a MBA, you should definitely go to a top college. As far as online degrees go, a lot of employers do not respect them. I would stay away from online universities - unless it was backed by a top university (e.g. - NYU Online, UPenn Wharton Online courses, etc.)

Anyone know the avg. salary for a physicians assistant that also has a masters in public health
Anyone know the avg. salary for a physicians assistant that also has a masters in public health?
i will be applying in a semester to P.A programs but would also like to see if it makes a bigger salary difference if i go to a 3 year P.A/MPH program.. anyone know?

An MPH or any other Master's degree really does mean much as far as salary, in the beginning. It does make you more marketable which may lead to getting a job easier. Is getting a Masters in public health gonna help me get into medical school?
If not, what kind of jobs can I expect to find with a MPH? I'm looking at this as a backup, in case I don't get into Medical school..

No because the MPH is directed towards those that want to be administrators of a large clinic or a hospital.

The question is, do you want to work in public health administration, or do you want to become a doctor? It is definitely possible to get your master's in public health then choose attend medical school. Many people who didn't do as well during their undergraduate years decide to get Master's degrees and then apply to medical school as a mechanism of raising their application GPA. However, if you do not need the boost, you are adding years to an already long road if you choose to do so. Many medical schools offer joint Masters/MD, or PhD/MD programs. It just depends on what you want your career to be. I recommend looking into some of these programs.
