which school in canada gives an advantages to african students who want to do a PHD in public health...? ?
I am a doctor from nigeria.... have worked for medecins sans frontieres in the past. Currently rounding up a masters in public health... which school is my best bet as to studying a PHD in Public health In Canada. Ontario ? please advice needed

The only programme of that sort is at the University of Toronto. http://www.phs.utoronto.ca/PhD.asp

They only give preference to aboriginal Canadians. All other people are on an equal footing. But do apply anyway.

i think it should cuz it will help u to understand the diseases or people better

Don't waste your money on a masters in public health. You need to be an MD to be a psychiatrist and that requires a BS in pre-med, about 4 years in medical school and then another 4 years studying to become a psychiatrist. Good luck!

I recommend the University at Albany School of Public Health. In fact we have had a a political science major (bio minor though), a history major, accountants and others outside the "sciences". Also, for schools and employment in public health, try http://publichealthemployment.blogspot.com/

Your undergraduate studies will support your coursework in your masters program. Just as you had prerequisites in your undergraduate courses, you will have them in your graduate work. You have gained knowledge of how people's behavior is affected in groups and that will be an advantage in either of these fields you mention. Congratulations on your success and enjoy grad school.
